I stayed at Good Morning Hostel Brest for two nights after seeing their business card at Hostel Revolution in Minsk. English speaking tourists in Brest are not massive in numbers so the two hostels are not flooded with guests. I had the 8 bedroom dorm to myself each night (there was one drunk guy but he was harmless and passed out straight away). WIN!

The plan was to stay one more night but came across a group of horrible people checking in at 8.30am. Checking early is fine if beds are available. What isn’t is making breakfast (LOUDLY) in the room where someone is sleeping (um common room), drinking hard spirits and smoking. It was the worst hostel etiquette ever, there are no alcohol signs in the room but the staff did not seem to care about that. I will do my best to prevent this issue from clouding the rest of my review (I changed hostel as I didn’t want to be around these people).

Good Morning Hostel Brest Staff

There is a staff member available 24 hours/day. Around midnight the staff member on duty will lock the front door and sleep in one of the available beds but can be called at any time. They speak minimal English but they are happy to use Google Translate to sort what you need. They are very quick to reply to emails as well which was nice.

Comfort

The beds were insanely comfortable, the two bathrooms (towels provided) are large and cleaned to perfection. There was a water cooler and tea available and yea, I cannot fault the place at all. I didn’t look to see if their were lockers available as it all felt secure.

Value

I paid 180,000 BYR (9€) each night and given there was barely anyone in the hostel the entire time it was great value for a hotel like experience. Everything in the hostel feels and looks new, including the kettle and cutlery. I’m not sure how long this hostel has been open but if they keep up the care of the equipment and furniture, the value will be very high.

Location

GPS Coordinates: 52.088626, 23.680688

Brest is a decent sized city so location does actually matter. Good Morning Hostel Brest is located in between the popular walking street, Sovetskaya and the even more popular Brest Memorial Fortress complex. Every Brest attraction on TripAdvisor (except the Rowing Canal) is within a 20 minute walk from the hostel, so location is great. There is a supermarket in a shopping mall a few hundred metres south which is handy.

Digital Nomad Savvy

Given the occupancy rate of the hostel is low, it is great for minimal distractions. While I was there, the Wi-Fi only worked in the kitchen/reception/common area, with the weak connection due to the hostel being on the ground floor. It worked 100% of the time in these areas.

Like Hostel Revolution in Minsk, there are plenty of power outlets. Something that Belarus seems to take seriously – win!

You will most likely arrive at Brest Railway station. From there it is approximately a 20 minute walk. Use maps.me as I normally would and you cannot go wrong.
